The award

To promote European arboriculture through the recognition of an innovative tree project, supported by good management, best practice and education.

To raise the awareness and socio-economic importance of the interaction between trees, people and the urban treescape.

Consideration criteria

Criteria for consideration of the application

City of at least 200,000 inhabitents
City within any European country
City must have a current tree inventory and an integrated tree management plan.
City must have appointed a managerial position with responsibility for the treescape.
Application fee of € 500,00 will become due after jury´s city inspecion

Criteria that will be assessed for the ECOT award

Award EUROPEAN CITY OF THE TREES 2011 goes to Turku

Award´s handover ceremony will take place at Ravintola Teini in Turku on Sat.,27.May, EAC welcomes Mrs. Marketa Pirklova from Prague to Turkus representatives
