Core objectives

  • Improve  the  understanding and awareness of trees and their benefits in urban areas.
  • Promote awareness of our tree heritage with its ecological/ cultural value.
  • Raise awareness and promote arboriculture best practice through education and training.
  • Promote research in order to enhance planting and the care of trees in the urban environment and the management of pests and diseases.
  • Harmonise  tree care procedures in Europe.
  • Recognise the role that the certified arborist plays in the management and care of the urban treescape.
 

Consideration criteria

Criteria for consideration of the application
  • City of at least 200,000 inhabitents
  • City within any European country
  • City must have a current tree inventory and an integrated tree management plan.
  • City must have appointed a managerial position with responsibility for the treescape.
  • Application fee of € 500,00 will become due after jury´s city inspecion

The award

To promote European arboriculture through the recognition of an innovative tree project, supported by good management, best practice and education.
