Consideration criteria

Criteria for consideration of the application
  • City of at least 200,000 inhabitents
  • City within any European country
  • City must have a current tree inventory and an integrated tree management plan.
  • City must have appointed a managerial position with responsibility for the treescape.
  • Application fee of € 500,00 will become due after jury´s city inspecion  

Criteria that will be assessed for the ECOT award

  • At least one sustainable and long term tree related project covering a minimum of three years. The project can be on-going. This should reflect EAC best practice guidelines covering safety, pruning and planting. This project has to:
    • Be a role model for the country/region.
    • Demonstrate significant benefits to the local community.
    • Demonstrate a contribution to the dissemination of knowledge and education.
    • Further the aims relevant to the EAC objectives.
    • During the year of the award a commitment to trees in the form of a tree festival/celebration/conference/competition that enhances the interaction between the citizens and their trees.
    • There must be an opportunity for the EAC to participate in the designated events.
    • Proof of intent of positive interaction and co-operation with the current and forthcoming award holders.
    • Proof of intent to promote awareness of the award and the core objectives.
